Arranging a funeral can be a stressful task for the family at a time when they need support. Dirisanang Ma-Africa is more than just a funeral service partner. We serve our clients and communities with Honesty and Integrity. We always work together with you to bring comfort during trying times.

Below are some of the important things you will need to ensure the successful burial of your loved one:

When one dies of natural causes,  which is usually from terminal illness, in a hospital:

1.The hospital will advise if they have storage to keep the deceased and it not, you will be advised to contact your appointed Funeral service parlor.

2.Hospital staff will arrange for a Medical Doctor to issue the Notification of Death (BI1663). This is an important document to enable you to proceed with the rest of the  burial arrangements.

3. The Funeral parlor will collect the Deceased and the Notification of Death (BI1663) from the Hospital.

4. The Funeral parlor will transport the deceased to their storage at a cost.

5. The Funeral parlor will then assist you with the following :

• registration of death

• securing a grave site

• storage of the deceased

When one dies of natural causes,  which is usually from terminal illness, at home:

1.Contact the Police .

2.The Police will send an Officer to take down the necessary statements. They  will contact the Police Photographer and Forensic Pathology Services, who will collect the Deceased.

3.Contact your appointed Funeral parlor, who can give guidance and advice as far as possible to assist you.

4.A Post Mortem will be done by the Forensic Pathologist to ascertain the exact Cause of Death, whereafter he/she will issue the Notification of Death (BI1663).

5.The Deceased will have to be identified by a family member/friend at Forensic Pathology Services.

6.We recommend that you ask a friend to assist you with this task.

7.The Forensic Pathology Services staff member will ask the person identifying the Deceased to nominate a Funeral parlor in writing.

8.This form is to be provided to the Forensic Pathology Services to enable the Funeral parlor to collect the Deceased.

9.Your Funeral parlor will collect the Deceased and the Notification of Death
